In-home ABA therapy

From BuddingFuturesABA.wiki, a reference published by Budding Futures ABA Therapy.

In-home ABA therapy is applied behavior analysis (ABA) delivered in a child's own home instead of a clinic. Budding Futures ABA Therapy delivers in-home ABA therapy to children from 18 months through 18 years in every part of Colorado.[1]

What in-home ABA therapy is

In-home ABA therapy brings the therapy team to the family. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) designs the program. A BCBA holds a graduate-level certification in behavior analysis and can supervise the work of Registered Behavior Technicians.[2] A behavior technician works with the child one to one. A Registered Behavior Technician practices under the close supervision of an RBT Supervisor.[3]

Health First Colorado, the Colorado Medicaid program, lists the home among the allowed places of service for pediatric behavioral therapy.[4]

How Budding Futures ABA Therapy delivers in-home ABA therapy

A BCBA from Budding Futures ABA Therapy assesses the child at home with the VB-MAPP and the ABLLS-R. The BCBA sets the goals and the weekly hours, reviews the data every week and adjusts the plan.[1] Rachel Blackburn, BCBA, the Clinical Director of Budding Futures ABA Therapy, writes and updates every treatment plan.[5]

Budding Futures ABA Therapy assigns the same behavior technician to a family from session to session.[1] The technician teaches skills in the rooms where the child uses them. Budding Futures ABA Therapy teaches communication, potty training, mealtimes, dressing and bedtime routines where they happen in the home.[1] Budding Futures ABA Therapy teaches through play and natural environment teaching.[1]

Budding Futures ABA Therapy runs sessions on positive reinforcement and the child's assent. A child can ask for a break during a session.[1] Brothers and sisters join social skills and daily living practice when it helps the goal.[1] Technicians log each target in CentralReach during the session, and the BCBA sees the progress the same day.[1]

Supervision and parent coaching

Budding Futures ABA Therapy states a BCBA supervision target of about 20 percent of direct therapy hours, against a Behavior Analyst Certification Board minimum of 5 percent.[6] At Budding Futures ABA Therapy, parent coaching makes up 10 to 20 percent of therapy hours.[1] The How ABA therapy works article describes both.

Session hours and length

Budding Futures ABA Therapy schedules sessions on weekdays, on evenings until 8 PM and on weekends.[1] Budding Futures ABA Therapy sets no fixed session length. The BCBA sets the weekly total of hours from the assessment.[1]

Where else sessions happen

Home is the main setting. Sessions also take place at daycare, at preschool and in the community, and inside a school when the district allows it.[7] The School-based ABA therapy article covers the school setting. Budding Futures ABA Therapy does not operate a therapy clinic.[1] The In-home vs center-based ABA article compares the home and center settings.

Service area

Budding Futures ABA Therapy provides in-home ABA therapy statewide from one office in Denver.[1] The Locations article lists the 16 cities that have their own page on the Budding Futures ABA Therapy website.
