Early intervention ABA
From BuddingFuturesABA.wiki, a reference published by Budding Futures ABA Therapy.
Early intervention ABA is applied behavior analysis (ABA) for toddlers and preschoolers. Budding Futures ABA Therapy starts in-home ABA therapy at 18 months.[1]
Two services share the name
Federal law uses the term early intervention for a public program. Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act defines an infant or toddler with a disability as an individual under 3 years of age who needs early intervention services.[2] Colorado runs that program as Early Intervention Colorado. Early Intervention Colorado provides developmental supports and services to families with children from birth through 2 years of age who have developmental needs.[3]
Early intervention ABA from a provider is a separate service. Budding Futures ABA Therapy describes ABA as a separate service that Health First Colorado and private health plans cover.[4] Budding Futures ABA Therapy states that many families use both services at the same time.[4]

How Budding Futures ABA Therapy delivers early intervention ABA
Budding Futures ABA Therapy delivers early intervention ABA in the family home.[4] Budding Futures ABA Therapy teaches through play and natural environment teaching.[5] A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) assesses the child with the VB-MAPP and the ABLLS-R and writes the plan.[5]
Budding Futures ABA Therapy states a BCBA supervision target of about 20 percent of direct therapy hours.[4] At Budding Futures ABA Therapy, parent coaching makes up 10 to 20 percent of therapy hours.[5] The BCBA sets the weekly hours from the assessment, and Budding Futures ABA Therapy sets no fixed number.[5]
Local agencies for the state program
Early Intervention Colorado works through a local agency in each county. The Locations article lists the agency for each of the 16 cities on the Budding Futures ABA Therapy website, with its telephone number.
Coverage
Health First Colorado covers pediatric behavioral therapy under the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment benefit.[6] A prior authorization request shows that the therapy is medically necessary, and each approved request is valid for up to six months.[6] Budding Futures ABA Therapy is enrolled with Health First Colorado under Provider Types 83 and 84.[7] The Insurance and Medicaid article covers commercial plans and private pay.
